Welcome to Art Town Montana, where humanity is held in focus by doing everything the hard way, in a battle against the soul-crushing digital-mechanical efficiency monster of modern culture.

I could have built my art shop from dimensional lumber and composite siding, but I spent ten times as long stacking rocks, cutting timbers, and carving figures into them.

A 3D printer can blast out a sculpture in minutes, but I would rather spend a hundred hours carving a figure from a log.  Wood is magical, by the way, unlike the lifeless metal or plastic that is spit out of a 3D printer.

An AI engine could create an image based on a sentence, but I think human creativity still has value. I would rather create images from great blobs of oil paint.

Am I justifying my existence?  Maybe.  Am I insane?  Likely.  Will I ultimately lose this battle to the efficiency monster?  Probably.  But in the meantime, I hope you enjoy these works of human effort.

Gallery

Here are some of my works of art... in no real order, except the sculptures are first.  The paintings follow.   Most pieces will be for sale at some point, but I have not set prices yet.  Maybe we can chat if you're interested in a piece. Keep in mind that a small print is a small bit of me.  An original painting might represent an hour or ten... and a 9-foot-tall sculpture is a 200-hour chunk of my life...

If you want to see how I made these pieces of art (the sculptures anyway) I'll show you in a video.  Search "Art Town Montana" in YouTube, or click the link at the end of this website
